The programme runs from 2nd August 2010 to 21st August 2010.

Voluntary Project Overview

Summer volunteer abroadThe Travelling to Teach Summer Programme works with a number of charity/community schools in India, Nepal and Tanzania, which provide education to children from some of the poorest backgrounds and that really need help and support from volunteer teachers. Teachers on this programme work to improve the teaching methods and provide inputs to the schools and teaching staff to improve the quality of education in some of the most deprived areas of the world.

The Volunteer Abroad Role

Teach English abroadThis is a focused 3 week programme for qualified teachers to share their skills with teachers and schools operating in very poor areas of Nepal, India and Tanzania to improve the quality of education. Volunteer teachers will visit and work in a school in India, Nepal or Tanzania educating the local children and working with the existing teaching staff. The aim of the volunteering programme is to provide interactive and interesting lessons to the children, in the subjects of English, Maths, Sciences, Arts or Drama while at the same time helping the teachers upgrade the teaching methods so as to make a lasting impact.

During your three weeks volunteering abroad you will have the opportunity to provide new skills to improve the quality of education to impact the lives of underprivileged children, helping them gain the skills and confidence to transcend the poverty that surrounds them.

Other Volunteer Abroad opportunities

Teaching children abroadTravelling to Teach volunteers gain enormously by living and working in a new culture. Volunteers abroad learn as much from the children they teach as they pass on in their lessons, and develop life skills unique to their own experience. Your weekends are also free to travel the local area and explore what the culture has to offer.
